A round up of 11 unmissable luxury lifestyle events, including Millionaire Fair, Top Marques and Hainan Rendez-Vous, in Armenia, Singapore and Vienna

As the luxury industry again experiences a time of prosperity, consumers are returning to the luxury lifestyle pursuits left dormant at the time of the global financial crisis. The recent success of Top Marques in Monaco and Hainan Rendez-Vous in China signal a resurrected interest in supercars, megayachts, helicopters and private jets, in Hainan alone, to the tune of 300 million euros in just four days.

We investigated some of the most prominent luxury lifestyle events on the industry calendar. For a complete listing of luxury exhibitions all over the world we invite you to explore the Luxury Society directory.

Millionaire Fair

Initiator Yves Gijrath, CEO Gijrath Media Groep and publisher of Miljonair Magazine, launched the idea for the Millionaire Fair as a place where the cream of the international luxury industry could meet and present their most exclusive products and services. In keeping with the theme of the magazine: ‘The Luxury Lifestyle’, the first event took place in Amsterdam in 2002, and in just one year had quadrupled in terms of size and number of visitors. Millionaire Fair was then launched in Moscow in 2005, followed by exhibitions in Antwerp, Shanghai and Istanbul.

The event strives to exhibit both new and established brands at the absolute top of the luxury segment, across art & antiques, luxury cars, interior & design, jewellery & watches, travel, yachts, private jets, helicopters, fashion, spirits, fine foods, beauty, consumer electronics, property and finance.

Top Marques

Top Marques originated in Monaco eight years ago as an event to showcase luxury supercars and innovative peak performance designs, and also utilise the celebrated racecourse of the Monaco Grand Prix. In 2011 the test drive circuit was closed to traffic for drivers to experience a blood pumping trial around the famous F1 Racasse corner. The event has grown to incorporate Superboats, available for sea trial in the Principality’s Port Fontvieille. In 2011 Top Watches debuted within the event, showcasing the world’s finest timepieces and collector’s limited editions from brands such as IWC, Montblanc, Piaget, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Roger Dubuis and Franck Muller.

The event takes place annually in Monaco and under license in Shanghai, for the first time in 2012 Top Marques will launch in Macau at The Venetian Resort Hotel with 2.1 km of test drive track.

Beginning in 2004 on the coast of Porto Cervo, on the island of Sardinia, DeLUXE is a unique showcase dedicated to luxury, yachts, cars and champagne. The forum is not just a fair, but a comprehensive event incorporating fashion shows, cocktail receptions, fine dining and entertainment, alongside an extensive exhibition of luxury products and services.

Following the success of the Italian event, DeLUXE has since been launched in Russia in 2010 and Singapore in 2011, with plans for events in Monaco and China in 2012.

Porto Cervo:

Hainan Rendez-Vous

Hainan Rendez-Vous is a four-day ultimate lifestyle event celebrating the excitement and glamour of superyachts, business jets and displays of upmarket international properties and high-end brands. The event is held in Sanya city on Hainan Island’s ‘Chinese Riviera’, organised by Delphine Ligniere.

In 2011 over 250 Chinese ultra-high net worth individuals were flown to the event on business jets, and over 15,000 people visited the 185 exhibition booths set up along the 500-metre promenade outside the Visun Royal Yacht Club. Nearly one hundred yachts and superyachts docked for the show along the riverbank outside the yacht club, making Hainan Rendez-Vous the largest in-water boat show in the country.

The inaugrual event in 2010 resulted in orders to the tune of 90 million euros, not including pending purchase options, and in 2011 the figure increased to 300 million euros, a sure sign that this is one of the most important dates on the luxury lifestyle calendar.

1.618 Sustainable Luxury Fair

The 1.618 Sustainable Luxury Fair aims to harmonise desire and responsibility, beauty and equity, style and durability, where each exhibitor’s Sustainable Development qualities are evaluated by a committee of experts prior to the validation of its participation.

Held at the Palais du Tokyo, Paris, the 2010 event hosted 32 exhibitors, a collaborative Art & Sustainable Development exhibition and 9 conferences for over 5200 visitors. The event is designed to showcase luxury products and services that meet stringent sustainability criteria across eco hospitality and spa, architecture, mobility, fashion, jewellery, wellness, design and new technologies.

Luxury & Yachts

Luxury & Yachts Expo is the premiere specialised luxury boating event in Italy, showcasing equipment and services ranging from water sports through surfing, water skiing, and diving technologies, to charters, motorboats, and luxurious yachts.

In 2010 the fair also included Luxury Garage and Luxury Christmas Preview, incorporating cars, motorcycles, helicopters, watches, jewelry, antiques, modern and contemporary art, indoor and outdoor furniture, accessories, high technology, fashion & accessories and luxury travel.

World Royal

Primarily a superyacht event, with the ability to sea trial some of the world’s most luxurious boats to a neighbouring private beach, World Royal is held in Tarragona, Spain. The event provides superyacht builders, brokers, naval architects, designers, financiers and insurance services to come together alongside specialist superyacht equipment manufacturers, to maximise trading and networking.

The event also incorporates jewellery, timepieces, supercars, motorcycles, private jets, helicopters, wealth management, art, fashion, travel, fine foods and real estate.

Luxury Please

Against a backdrop of art, culture and sophisticated entertainment, held in Vienna, Luxury Please provides premium exhibitors an opulent setting in which to present and showcase their products. Participating sectors include fashion, art, jewellery, timepieces, real estate, yachts, aircraft, cars and culinary specialities, exhibited alongside fashion presentations, performing artists and a broad spectrum of lounges for rest and relaxation.

Masterpiece Fair

Masterpiece London is a fair designed to showcase art and design of the highest order, promising pieces from cutting edge contemporary to resplendent antique, displayed in an airy, modern atmosphere. The event aims to be a forum for distinctive design and aesthetic excellence, as opposed to a traditional art or antiques fair, with a determined focus on superb quality.

Presentations range from Bugatti to bronzes, Cartier to Cognac and Picasso to pink diamonds, with dining options provided by iconic restaurant, Le Caprice, custom-built within the fair.

The SeaFair concept was developed by International Fine Art Expositions, a leader in organising prestigious art fairs throughout the world, and is the world’s first mobile megayacht venue. The boat remains dockside during each event and pairs international fine art, jewellery and collectables with harbour view dining and special events in cities along the eastern seaboard.

The $40M purpose built yacht requires a draft of only 6.5 feet, allowing it to dock at small yacht facilities in central city locations rather than use commercial ports. Over four decks the vessel incorporates, 28 exhibition spaces, a coffee bar, the Luxe Lounge, an open-air champagne and caviar lounge on the aft deck, a formal glass-walled restaurant and a rooftop informal open-air restaurant and cocktail area.

Elite Life Fair

Publishers of Elite Life magazine launched the Elite Life Fair in 2009 as a way to connect and showcase the Armenian luxury industry. The 2-day exhibition incorporates entertainment, fashion shows and fine foods alongside a selection of premium products such as supercars, yachts, real estate, jewellery and high-end consumer electronics.
