March saw the openings of retail locations from Vietnam to Abu Dhabi to Korea and back to Dubai, as rollouts continued in Paris, New York, Milan and Hong Kong. Rolls Royce launched its largest retail space in the world, with a comprehensive space in the Middle East, as Carven opened doors on their first ever retail location in Paris. Whilst Louis Vuitton unveiled their new ‘family room’ concept developed specifically for the United Arab Emirates market, designed to entertain children when shopping with their extended family.
Bottega Veneta have launched their first boutique in Sydney, in keeping with the global design concept by Creative Director Tomas Maier. Self described as ‘luxurious and discreet’ the store carries a broad selection of Bottega Veneta products, including handbags, women’s and men’s shoes, fashion jewellery, luggage, eyewear, and items for the home. Of their first Australian location, Maier remarked: "I’m delighted that Bottega Veneta is finally opening a store in Sydney. We’ve wanted to be in Australia for a long time and we look forward to offering our customers there the luxury, comfort, and service of the Bottega Veneta shopping experience.”
Porsche Design recently opened its doors in San Francisco, offering the entire product range including sports apparel, luggage, watches, accessories, writing tools and small leather goods. The store also carries an extended fashion collection for men and women and is the company’s first green building store: the shop fittings have been equipped with LED technique in order to lower power consumption by more then 80 per
Joining a presence of 20 existing stores in Korea, Prada has opened in Incheon and Ulsan, designed by interior architect Roberto Bacciochi. The Incheon store houses men and women’s accessories, whilst the Ulsan location will house accessories and a selection of women’s footwear. In keeping with the global design concept, the stores feature black and white chequered marble floors, walls upholstered in green canvas and ivory-coloured Saffiano leather display cases with polished steel and glass counters.
French heritage brand, Perrin Paris, has opened its first boutique in the capital, on rue des Petits Champs in the 2nd arrondissement. In keeping with its history in tannery and the manufacture of premium gloves, the store will carry bags and leather accessories, in a range of classic leathers, ostrich, eel and stingray, and serve as a showroom twice yearly for European buyers and press.

Lanvin has opened its first store in Milan, in the "Quadrilatero della moda” on the corner of Via della Spiga and Via Santo Spirito. The 100sqm store will carry women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, as well as capsule collections, and incorporates mirror-embellished walls and Art Deco furnishings, with black and white Carrara marble floors. CEO Thierry Andretta remarked: “We are very happy to settle in the heart of the second capital of luxury, the only missing from our sales network. Italy is an important market for us, especially in view of the upcoming openings in Rome and Bologna.”

Opening in time for the famed Cannes International Film Festival, Roberto Cavalli will open a 200sqm space during May, housing his ready-to-wear womenswear and menswear collections, as well as accessories, eyewear, watches and underwear. The flooring features large slabs of dark brown quartzite dusted with flecks of light-reflecting crystal, while the walls are finished in ivory and dark brown stucco with shimmering gold tones. Backlit crystal showcases coveted accessories while pony hair rugs and python-embossed leather furnishings add an extra opulent touch.

Sergio Rossi unveiled a new store concept during Paris Fashion Week, opening on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The new design has been described by the brand as “A playful tribute to femininity and an alluring homage to the world’s emblematic screen icons, the Paris store was inspired by the high-heeled shoe’s curvaceous silhouette heralding womanly beauty and power with dramatic furnishings in a domestically comfortable setting.”
Opening their fifth standalone location, Salvatore Ferragamo launched at the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The 200sqm store will offer the full range of Ferragamo products. Michele Norsa, Managing Director and General Manager of the Ferragamo Group remarked: “Vietnam is a very promising and highly prestigious market. We have great expectations for the future and we are proud to present our fifth store in the Rex Hotel to our sophisticated Vietnamese clientele and to offer the same exciting shopping experience of other international fashion capitals”.

Luxury trunk maker, Pinel & Pinel, has opened in the 8th arrondissement in Paris, between Madeleine and Concorde. Built around a ‘bar’ theme, the store has been designed to be inviting and cheerful to encourage dialogue with customers, a founding principle of the house. The store balances tradition and modernity, including geometric structures, parquet flooring, Haussmann columns and contemporary furnishings. And also incorporates a dedicated space for bespoke orders, where clients can discuss projects with Fred Pinel himself by appointment.
Rolls Royce has opened its largest showroom in the world in the Middle Eastern emirate of Abu Dhabi. The 900sqm space houses five Rolls-Royce models alongside a dedicated service facility for owners and is intended to push the luxury brand further into the Middle East, now one of the automaker’s primary targets. The store adds to seven existing dealerships in the Middle East, a region that now contributes over 15 percent of the company’s global sales. Visitors to the showroom can view a selection of ultra-luxury Rolls-Royce models, visit the customer configuration lounge to personalise their model or take a break at the coffee bar.

Following the London New Bond Street Store, the first concept in collaboration with Universal Design Studio, Mulberry has opened their second concept location in Manchester, to house the brand’s full collection of leather goods and accessories. Products are displayed on oak shelving and inside brass-framed cabinets, whilst a wall tiled in bespoke unglazed ceramic tiles supports wall-mounted glass cases and wooden hooks.
French luxury house Carven has opened their very first retail location on Rue Saint Sulpice in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by Eric Chevallier, who is also responsible for visual merchandising at Colette, the store mixes wood, tiles and a palette of black and white, with furniture conceived by French design duo Domeau & Pérès.
Opening its first standalone location in London, Loewe engaged super-architect Peter Marino to design their Mount Street presence inside a 19th century 100sqm space. The store will house both women and men’s leather goods and accessories, in keeping with the concept developed for the Valencia opening in 2010. Creative director, Stuart Vevers, remarked: “The store feels unique to Loewe and very Spanish, I like its luxurious, contemporary and comfortable feel. The London store is definitely a boutique, it’s an intimate space. For me, Peter has succeeded to adapt the concept unveiled last year in the flagship in Valencia to this jewel-box store.”

Louis Vuitton has re-opened an expanded store within the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, housing a much larger product offering, including a full selection of women’s ready-to-wear as well as a new section dedicated to menswear. The extended location also incorporates the first-ever family room, which has been developed to meet the unique needs of customers in the region, and provide a space for families to relax while parents enjoy a leisurely shopping experience.
Renowned for bespoke tailoring, Hong Kong-based Ascot Chang has opened a 450sqm location in New York, joining retail locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Manila and Beijing. The brand aims to combine traditional Shanghai tailoring with contemporary styling, using single needle French seams and handpicked mother-of-pearl buttons.
