The Latest Appointments at Jaguar Land Rover, Gucci China, Brioni, Lane Crawford, Rolls Royce, Jimmy Choo, Ferretti Group, Saint Laurent Paris & Shiseido.

Late in June 2012, FashionMag announced the very quiet departure of Kamel Ouadi from Louis Vuitton, citing trade magazine Stratégies as its source. The former vice president of e-Business and CRM for L’Oréal China, served at Louis Vuitton as director of digital strategy since 2008, as well playing an instrumental role in the launch of NOWNESS. Louis Vuitton’s digital department declined to comment on the news when contacted by FashionMag, and the news has not since been confirmed.

In other departures news, Marc Rey, president of International Designer Collections at L’Oréal Luxe USA, has resigned his post, to be replaced by general manager Alexandre Choueiri. Over at Coty Inc, which is looking to go public, CEO Bernd Beetz has announced his retirement effective August 1, 2012. Mr. Beetz will remain with Coty’s board as a non-executive director, whilst spending more time on charitable work and writing a book.

Daniella Vitale, COO, Barneys

Former president of Gucci America, Daniella Vitale has been named chief operating officer of Barneys New York. Ms. Vitale has served under Mark Lee since December 2010, as chief merchant and executive vice-president of women’s merchandising and Barneys.com. Barneys has created Vitale’s new title specifically for her, following the addition of more and more responsibilities to her role.

Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India

Current president of BMW Group Belgium-Luxemburg, Philipp von Sahr, is to succeed Dr. Andreas Schaaf as President of BMW Group India, effective October 1, 2012. Dr. Andreas Schaaf will then assume a new executive position at BMW Group Headquarters in Munich.

Brendan Mullane, Creative Director, Brioni

PPR has announced the appointment of Brendan Mullane as Creative Director of Brioni, who assumes full responsibility of the creation and development of the whole Brioni product portfolio. Most recently, Mr. Mullane served as menswear head designer at Givenchy, following stints at Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Alexander McQueen.

Jenna Littler, VP PR & Communications, Burberry

Burberry has tapped in-house corporate relations director, Jenna Littler, for the newly created position of Vice President PR & Communications effective immediately. Ms. Littler joined Burberry in March 2010 from McKinsey & Company where she worked in external relations.

Josh Stinchcomb, VP, Condé Nast Media Group

As part of restructuring of the Condé Nast Media Group, Josh Stinchcomb has been named vice president, corporate partnerships. Stinchcomb will lead the corporate sales team across all revenue streams, including print, digital, mobile, video and marketing services. He had previously been in charge of digital sales.

Michele Scannavini, CEO, Coty

Following Bernd Beetz’s retirement after over a decade at the helm, Coty’s board of directors has unanimously appointed Michele Scannavini, the current president of Coty Prestige, as his successor effective August 1, 2012. Mr. Beetz will remain on the Coty board as a non-executive director.

Jean-Marc Gallot, Managing Director, Fendi

LVMH has appointed Jean-Marc Gallot, as general manager of Fendi. The former Louis Vuitton executive has also served at Cartier, Christofle and historical champagne manufacturer Ruinart. Mr Gallot succeeds Philippe Fortunato who will move on to become the new Louis Vuitton president in China.

Tan Xuguang, Chairman, Ferretti Group

Following the acquisition of Ferretti Group by SHIG-Weichai Group, Tan Xuguang has been appointed chairman, whilst Norberto Ferretti will serve as honorary chairman and Ferruccio Rossi as managing director. Mr. Rossi has been working for the group as Riva’s managing director and Ferretti Group country manager since 2005.

Jim Yost, CFO, Fisker Automotive

Fisker Automotive, manufacturer of luxury plug-in hybrid cars, has hired former Ford Motor Co. and Dana Holding Corp. executive, Jim Yost, as its chief financial officer. Yost’s hiring follows the appointment in February of Tom LaSorda, a former CEO of the predecessor of Chrysler Group LLC.

Carol Shen, President, Gucci China

Gucci has appointed Carol Shen as the new president of Gucci China, which includes continental Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan, effective September 3, 2012. Ms. Shen has served for more than twenty years within Estée Lauder Companies, ten of which she held the role of Managing Director China, based in Shanghai.

Angelina Ypma, CEO, Issa London

Issa London has appointed Angelina Ypma as CEO, effective August 1, 2012, to replace current chief executive officer Anil Tanna. Ms. Ypma – previously the managing director of Bulgari UK and Ireland – joins the label’s creative director and founder, Daniella Helayel, and chairwoman Camilla Al Fayed, who bought a majority stake in the label last July.

Dr Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover

Tata Motors has appointed Dr Ralf Speth as CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, with overall responsibility for the company’s operations. Dr. Speth has worked in the European car industry for more than 22 years, including at BMW and Ford. His time at BMW included a spell as vice-president of Land Rover.

David Bonaparte, CEO, Jewelers of America

Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewellery retail marketplace, has announced the appointment of David Bonaparte as the association’s future President & CEO. Bonaparte will succeed Matthew A. Runci when he retires at year’s end.

Pierre Denis, CEO, Jimmy Choo

Pierre Denis has been hired as Jimmy Choo’s new CEO, replacing replaces Joshua Schulman who stepped down from the position in November 2011, following the brands acquisition by Labelux in May. Mr. Denis most recently served as the general manager of John Galliano, after serving as managing director for Christian Dior in Asia, and later for Europe, the Middle East and India.

Andrea O’Donnell, Executive Director, Lane Crawford

Andrea O’Donnell will join Lane Crawford as executive director commencing September 3, 2012, responsible for merchandising, marketing, store strategy and planning. Mr. Sebastian Picardo will also join Lane Crawford as EVP business development & online on August 6, to oversee Lane Crawford’s e-commerce business and work with Ms. O’Donnell to synergize retail and online channels in Greater China.

Robert Wichser, CEO, Narciso Rodriguez

Robert J. Wichser has re-joined Narciso Rodriguez as chief executive officer, following his departure from John Varvatos in May 2012. Mr. Wichser first assumed the top executive role at Narciso Rodriguez in 2010 in the wake of the exit of Kathy Kalesti, Rodriguez’s long-time business partner and president of the company.

Gilles Taylor, Design Director, Rolls Royce

Rolls-Royce has appointed Giles Taylor as its new design chief, replacing Ian Cameron, who retires from the role he has held since 1999. The 44-year-old designer joined Rolls-Royce just last year, leaving his previous post at Jaguar where he was influential in the design of models like the XF and XJ.

Max Vallot, US Press Director, Saint Laurent Paris

Worldwide communications director, Laurence Kleinknecht, has appointed Max Vallot as U.S. press director of Saint Laurent Paris. Mr. Vallot previously served as marketing director at BLK DNM and formerly modelled in Dior Homme shows when Hedi Slimane helmed that brand.

Jeanette Garner, President e-Commerce, Shiseido

Shiseido Americas Corporation has announced the appointment of Jeanette Garner as vice president, e-commerce. Garner will lead a newly created e-commerce department for the company, which will combine the existing global e-commerce functions for SAC’s NARS and Shiseido brands.

The Row has appointed its first vice president of global communication. Iana dos Reis Nunes joins the five year old brand in a newly created position, following service at Chanel Inc, where she served as executive director of public relations for fashion, watches and fine jewellery.
