The latest appointments at Technomarine, Frank & Fils, Ballantyne, Starwood, Hermès, Gilt Groupe, John Galliano, Jumeirah Group & Elizabeth Arden Spa.

As 2011 begins, there has been a changing of the guard within the luxury industry. Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy are in the process of re-negotiating their contracts with Louis Vuitton, Emanuelle Alt has been confirmed as the new editor in chief of French Vogue, ending the speculation regarding stewadship of the magazine but leaving no clue as to what Carine will do next.

Christophe Lemaire is to succeed Jean-Paul Gaultier as creative director of Hermès, showcasing his debut collection in 2011, whilst Tiffany & Co CEO James E Quinn announced that he will retire in 2012. Juicy Couture vice president of communications, Kate Foster also announced an exit over the Christmas break, as Gilt Groupe, Jumeriah and Technomarine appointed new leaders.

Paolo Casani, CEO, Azimut Yachts

Casani joined Azimut in 2008 after twenty-five years of experience in the luxury goods sector, at houses Armani, Valentino, Calvin Klein and Ferragamo. Whilst he has been promoted to CEO of Azimut Yahcts, he will remain directing the Yachtique Division, dedicated to strategic services, while taking on his new role.

Alexandre Malgouyres, communications director, John Galliano

Formerly of Burberry in Paris and New York and public relations agency KCD, Alexandre Malgouyres joins John Galliano in Paris as the communications director, leaving event production agency SPEC Entertainment, where he was global communications director and spokesman.

Paddy Byng, managing director, Asprey

The former CEO of Smythson and senior manager at Alfred Dunhill and Polo Ralph Lauren, has been appointed managing director of British luxury goods company Asprey, which offers a range of fine jewellery and watches.

Thomas Kochs, general manager, Claridge’s

Maybourne Hotel Group, which also includes The Connaught and The Berkley, appointed Thomas Kochs as the general manager of Claridge’s. Kochs has worked at all three group properties since joining in 2001, most recently he was the hotel manager at Claridge’s overseeing the roll-out of the Diane Von Furstenberg designed suites.
